Artist/art critic Robert Kehlmann '63 has published a debut novel, "The Rabbi's Suitcase," inspired by a trove of historically relevant, passionate love letters he found among his mother's belongings that were written to her by a man who later became one of the founders of the State of Israel. Kehlmann traces his family's odyssey from 1880s Lithuania to the Ottoman Empire to Mandate Palestine, to Depression era America.
