Welcome new ACAB members!
New additions to the Alumni Board elected
Every year, the Antioch College Alumni Board, the governing body of the Antioch College Alumni Association, holds a selection process to add new members to the Board. Our By-Laws tell us that we can have no fewer than 11 and no more than 30 members; currently we have 15 members. With the new ACAB coming on and those going off, we will have 16 members as of July 2025.
The new Alumni Board members are:
Julia Adamo 2002
Jonathan Platt 1996
Michaella Okazawa Rey 2006
Larry Rubin 1965
In late 2024, we put out a notice to all alumni asking for nominations for Board members. We received over 50 responses; some self-nominations and some nominating others. We asked each possible candidate to send us a short biography, a photo, and the answers to two questions: Why do you want to be on the Alumni Board? What skills, abilities, knowledge do you bring to the Alumni Board? As has been common, not everyone responded and were thus not considered.
You may also notice that I said we held a “selection process”, not an “election process”. We use that term because, as has been true for recent times, we do not need to hold a competitive process. We do have a ballot so that folks can learn more about each candidate and can participate in the selection process. Not being competitive is very Antiochian.
You may also notice that, with the exception of Larry, the other nominees are graduates from recent times, which echoes the current composition of the Board, with a majority of its members from the 1990’s forward. This trend will actually increase as older members go off, including myself (class of 1967), Catherine Jordan (class of 1972) and, exceptionally, Liz Flyntz (class of 2002). Alan Siege 1978 will be continuing for a third term.
We received 579 unduplicated ballots with the following class year breakdown:
1949-1959: 24
1960-1969: 179
1970-1979: 200
1980-1989: 57
1990-1999: 43
2000-2008: 60
2015-2024: 16
